SAN ANTONIO, TX – Students at University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio are getting a firsthand lesson on what ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ means.
Authorities say a campus police officer shot and killed one of their classmates, 23-year-old Robert Cameron Redus of Baytown, during a traffic stop.
Police say the two got into some sort of struggle, but, what caused that struggle is anyone’s guess.
The Texas Rangers have joined the Alamo Heights Police Department in an investigation to try and figure out what happened. Meanwhile, Redus’ classmates are trying to do the same.
“We want it to be a good, happy feeling. He wouldn’t want us to be sad about this,” said one classmate.
“It’s hard to think that he’s gone. He was here three days ago, you know. We just saw him. Closure’s one of those things that’s going to take time,” said another classmate.
Because time is the only real thing that can heal the wounds of a life cut short.
