HOUSTON, TX – Former president George H. W. Bush, you know, 41, is no stranger to new sights and experiences.

He’s been rescued after his plane went down during WWII. And he jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, skydiving to celebrate his 85th birthday.

And here’s his tweet wishing he and Barbara could have attended Nelson Mandela’s memorial service this week in South Africa. But there’s more to this than the tweet.

This was 41’s first tweet, #1 4 41.

That makes him the second US president to have a Twitter account.

Maybe third if you count this account run by Organizing for Action on behalf of President Obama who signs his tweets with -bo (the initials).

Former president Bill Clinton is the other.

He congratulated bush for joining Twitter, tweeting that it’s easier than skydiving.
