IRVING, TX — Change hits the Boy Scouts of America this week with the acceptance of openly gay youths in the new year.
The subject has seen its fair share of controversy with varying opinions.
Most major sponsors are keeping all ties with the Boy Scouts.
A BSA executive board member is comparing the new policy to Y2K, saying, “It’s business as usual, nothing happens and we move forward.”
While some may be pleased with the inclusion of openly gay youths, adults are still another matter entirely. Openly gay adults will still be excluded from leadership positions.
Boy Scout officials say there aren’t any plans to review the issue any further for the time being. It’s baby steps here.
