THE NETHERLANDS – If you’ve been goin’ nuts on the internet lately, you’d better listen up.
Yahoo’s servers are under a malware attack.
An internet security firm out of the Netherlands says tens of thousands of users are at risk and have been since December 30. It all reportedly stems from those pesky ads on Yahoo.
Supposedly, when users click on certain ads, malware is unleashed into your computers and different devices you use to surf the net. And, if those computers are connected to a network, the malicious software spreads.
The good news – the U.S. isn’t the largest victim in this malware spree. Rather, Romania, Britain and France got hit the hardest.
Yahoo says it’s fighting back and has since removed all of the nasty ads that are causing problems. The company is also monitoring its site – making sure bad ads don’t pop up in the future. Because, let’s face it, who likes bad ads??
