HAVANA, CUBA – He hasn’t been seen in nine months, but this week Fidel Castro made a public appearance at the opening of an art studio in the Cuban capital.

The 87-year-old former leader of Cuba handed over power to his brother, Raul, back in 2008 after falling gravely ill.

Because of his failing health, and the fact that he hadn’t been seen publically in several months, many people began to question if Castro was even still alive.

Those questions were answered after pictures of Castro at the event began to circulate the web.
