HOUSTON, TX – Remember the old Bloods versus Crips gang fad of the ’90s?  Well it turns out gangbangers don’t just retire, and new ones spring up out of nowhere.  That’s why the Harris County Attorney’s Office is making moves to keep known Bloods and Crips gang members from entering or committing crimes in one north Harris County community.

Assistant County Attorney Celena Vinson explains, “Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan filed a petition against 54 gang members, including the Bloods and Crips gang members asking the judge to order that they be banned from going into a certain area, which is in the East Aldine area of Harris county.”

Now this court order expands on a safety zone that already exists at the Haverstock Apartments, where gang-related crime was notoriously bad.  The efforts there lowered crime at that property, but the crime spilled over.  This new injunction will cover more of the surrounding area.
