carfireMAPLE GROVE, MN – A fiery car crash and rush to save the driver, Douglas Aure, was caught on the police officer who saved him, Jesse Mathwig’s Dash Cam.

Police say Aure hit a cable barrier on the highway. His spinning tires erupted in flames.

That’s when officer Mathwig can be seen on his dash cam video heading towards the burning car, doors locked, an unconscious man inside, engine revving.

A fire extinguisher wasn’t enough to put out the blaze and backup arrived to help Mathwig pull Aure to safety as the flames raged around them.

Aure is in the hospital in critical condition; but his daughter says he’s expected to survive all because they put their lives on the line in the heat of the moment.
