NEW YORK, NY – When it comes to Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover models, men have one focus.
Move over Kate Upton and Heidi Klum, there’s a new cover model in town, she’s over 50 years old and all plastic.
Curious as to who this mysterious swimsuit cover model is?
Barbie will be making her Sports Illustrated debut, flaunting her stuff on the cover of at least 1,000 copies of the 50th anniversary swimsuit issue, wearing an updated version of the swimsuit she wore in her 1959 release. The magazine reads, “The doll that started it all.”
The theme for the campaign is #Unapologetic. Mattel is onboard in a partnership with Sports Illustrated and as of now, Barbie is looking over Times Square on a billboard promoting the issue.
As a cover, it’s not like Demi Moore on Vanity Fair, or Britney Spears on Rolling Stone, but it gives us something to chat about, even if the model herself can’t contribute to the conversation.
