VH1 is stripping down in the name of love…literally! The music-themed cable network has picked up a new series called Naked Dating. I know very original.
The reality dating show has been picked up for 10 weekly episodes, each centering on a man and a woman each dating two different (but equally nude) suitors. At the end of each hour long episode, the contestants look back at their (naked) dates, and choose whether or not they want a second outing.
“At first, this seems like a show that’s all about a noisy, provocative hook — and we embrace that. But when you go deeper, it’s really about something that we can all relate to — the search for true love,” says Susan Levison, Executive VP Original Programming and Production at VH1
The show is set to be filmed in a “remote exotic locale”. It has to be remote. Who goes on a date naked?
We unfortunately, won’t see EVERYTHING. VH1 will edit the show “according to network standards,” meaning, you know, a lot of blurred censorship boxes.
So what do you think about the idea of a Naked Dating show. Part of me thinks it’s a great idea. I mean let’s be honest, why bury the lead?! Sometimes you wish you had X-Ray vision so you knew what you were working with. Plus, they’ll save a lot on wardrobe. Can’t wait to see the casting call footage and behind the scenes.
Honestly, this seems like a train wreck just waiting to happen. Better set that DVR.
And that’s today’s helping of The Online Dish with Maggie.
