Drunk driver kills 2 at SXSW festival

sxswAUSTIN, TX – Austin police will charge 21-year-old Rashad Charjuan Owens with two counts of capital murder and another 23 counts of assault with a vehicle after he plowed into a crowd of SXSW patrons.

The incident happened just after midnight Thursday morning when police say an officer attempted to pulled Owens over for drunk driving. Instead of complying with police he sped off and crashed through a barricade, driving the wrong way down a one-way street. Owens crashed into more than two dozen people and hit a taxi and van before finally stopping and attempting to flee on foot.

He was eventually arrested and is now awaiting charges.
