School board set to vote on closing 2 schools

HISDHOUSTON, TX – It’s voting day.

The long-awaited HISD decision on whether to close Dodson Elementary and Jones High School is expected this afternoon. The school board meets at 4.

Protestors have not been shy about their disapproval.  Superintendent Terry Grier initially proposed closing five schools due to declining enrollment, but he recently took three off the table.
