These rowers are wrapping up their 15 mile push through Buffalo Bayou for the 42nd annual Buffalo Bayou Regatta.
Anne Olson, from Buffalo Bayou Partnership says,”The race is sponsored by Buffalo Bayou Partnership and all the proceeds go to restoring the water way, so it’s a great event, this is the largest event we’ve ever had.”
Over 500 canoers and kayakers participated in this year’s regatta, and while they paddled for a good cause, they were also able to let loose their inner competitor.
Kaitlin Jiral shared that “I’m happy with how I finished I think, I was told I was second place women, so that’s pretty fun.”
And despite the rainy weather, no lack of support for the paddlers as they cross the finish.
Ana Pressler, a spectator, says “We’re just out here supporting, it’s our first time out and we’re real excited for the people who are racing, and we know it’s hard work, so we’re just out here to give them a good roar.”
