HOUSTON, TX – A custody battle is underway in Houston for a severely malnourished 5-year-old, and police say the boy’s father, 24-year-old Bradley Bleimeyer, and his wife Tami, the boy’s stepmom, are to blame.

Police say they have been keeping him in a locked closet, barely feeding him at their home in Spring.

Both have been charged with child endangerment.

Now the biological mother is stepping in, hoping to rescue him for good. She is filling for full custody of her son.

Wendy Hall says it’s been two and a half years since she’s seen her son; but not for lack of trying. She said Bleimeyer has been blocking access to the boy, even taking him out of state, making it difficult for her to find him.

You can imagine what it was like for her to be reunited with him.

Wendy appeared at an emergency hearing at the courthouse in downtown Houston, where a judge will determine where to place the child.  For now the child remains in the hospital in CPS care.

When Harris County officials found Hall’s son, he was wearing a soiled diaper, had cuts and bruises on his back and was skin and bones. Obvious the little boy has been through a terrible, sickening ordeal.

Stepmom Tami is out on bail, while Bleimeyer sits behind bars.

The next custody hearing is slated for April 21st.

Poor little boy — if he’s gonna get through this terrible time, he’s gonna need a real role model, a lot of love and care.
