SCOTTS VALLEY, CA – If you’re thinking about shelling out for that Netflix streaming subscription, now may be the time to do it.

Netflix plans to increase subscription prices for new customers by one or two dollars a month.

Existing customers, paying $7.99 per month, you won’t see a change in your current rate for a “generous time period”.  No word on how long that grace period is.

As the prices grow so has the number of subscribers.

The company said in its earnings report it added 2.25 million customers to its U.S. streaming business last quarter.

Globally, Netflix has over 48 million subscribers.
