KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Volunteering in Afghanistan and think your guards will keep you safe? Think again.

A police guard at Cure Hospital in Kabul opened fire killing three American volunteer doctors, and injuring one other hospital worker.

The Afghan minister of public health said two of the three Americans killed were father and son. A senior pediatrician was at the gate to allow the workers into the building and that’s when the guard opened fire.

No word on why the guard opened fire on the hospital workers; but he also turned the gun on himself shortly after. He survived.
