HOUSTON, TX – A ruling on Mayor Annise Parker’s proposed equal rights ordinance has been pushed back to next week.

“I did receive a number of amendments to the ordinance today. Some of which are worthy of consideration; some I will clearly be opposing,” she said after council adjourned on Wednesday.

The idea is to expand protection to those not already protected under state and federal laws. In other words, officially make discrimination for sexual orientation and gender identity, along with race, age and marital status not okay.
