HOUSTON, TX – Man, talk about a bum rap. check this out: rankings for the ten best barbecue states in the U.S. are out. Number one – Georgia.

Texas came in third.

According to Massachusetts-based TripAdvisor.com who compiled the list, Georgia and North Carolina have better barbecue than we do. The folks we found chowing down at Demeris have a different take.

“No. The best barbecue is in Texas,” Jim Renfro said without pause.

“The sauce in Texas, I haven’t seen anything that compares to it,” Dick Gaston says.

Number eight on the list – Illinois. Seriously? “The’ve got barbecue in every state,” Renfro shrugs. “In New York.”

Seems like the only thing Trip Advisor got right was listing Austin-based Franklin barbecue number one barbecue joint in the U.S. But hey, you know what they say, even a broken clock gets it right twice a day.
