HUTCHINSON COUNTY, TX – A Texas panhandle wildfire that destroyed 100 homes and forced hundreds of residents to evacuate Hutchinson County, is 75% contained.

Since breaking out late Sunday afternoon, the Hutchinson County grassfire has had plenty of fuel, from high winds to dry conditions.

Hutchinson County Emergency Management officials believe the fire has burned more than a 1500 acres.

Emergency crews from 26 counties are helping put out the flames.

While the wind is blamed for fanning the flames, it’s not clear yet what exactly caused such a destructive wildfire.
