INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A couple is learning a tough lesson about money laundering, but not in the way you would think.
The duo had been stowing their savings away in a safe. $27,000 was in that small black box, which they kept in their dryer. When the laundry machine recently broke, the man’s brother tried to fix it, but to no avail. So he replaced the device and left the old one out in an ally.
That’s how a young couple’s savings vanished.
“This couple’s really young. They came to the country to make something for themselves and doing it the right way and unfortunately this happened,” said Officer Carlos Trincado with the Indianapolis Police Department.
Early efforts to locate the dryer and cash have not been successful.
