HOUSTON, TX – The next big DJ could hail from H-Town. A product of the Supastar Spin Academy. At least that’s what owner and founder DJ Supastar hopes for.

DJ Supastar’s the first female DJ in the city to ever bring to life an academy focused on training the next best music master on the 1’s and 2’s. It’s something she felt drawn to after she lost her husband in 2006. Working with children and teaching them how to deejay helped her through her grieving process. Soon after, it was clear her purpose in life was unfolding. Now it’s all come together.

Classes are once a week in a hip, creative spot on the south side of town. Graffiti walls, racks of vinyl records and deejay gear ready to learn on. During each six-week session, students gather once a week to jam and learn the art. DJ Supastar says her students range from 8 to 17-years-old.

As class sizes continue to grow, so does support from the community. Most recently, a huge announcement made exclusively on CW39 NewsFix, Superstar Spin Academy has teamed up with Slim Thug’s Boss Life Cigars to provide scholarships to sponsor new students every month. Both share a common vision, creating a legacy and providing a fresh outlet to keep kids off the streets.
