DALLAS, TX (NewsFix DFW) – It’s an 85-year-old football tradition: the Texas vs. OU football game at the Cotton Bowl.
Nowadays, it’s officially the Red River Showdown, and it looks like it’s gonna be at Fair Park for a long time.
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings just announced the teams will keep playing at the Cotton Bowl through 2025.
When the fans get there, the streets will have a makeover. So will the lights.
“We have put a million lights in fair park to light it up,” Rawlings said.
There’s also a Vegas-style water show that city leaders hope will be a year-round attraction.
These changes are on top of $82 million in improvements to the Cotton Bowl itself in the last 6 years.
That investment helps keep fans coming to town year after year.
If the new stuff isn’t enough to make you head down to Fair Park, there’s still the corny dogs.
