Man convicted of raping women met through online dating sites

mingleEL COJON, CA – One of the dangers of online dating is that you never know who’s going to ring your bell. For some women in southern California, Sean Banks, turned out to be the date from hell.

A jury in El Cajon found Banks guilty on five counts of forcible rape, rape of an unconscious person, and burglary from two incidents between 2009 and 2012.

“This defendant is a very dangerous, serial date rapist and potentially a sociopath who feels no remorse,” said DA David Williams III.

One victim said she met Banks on Christian She invited him to her apartment where he dragged her into the bedroom and raped her.

The second woman says she met banks on She agreed to go out with him for dinner and drinks. She says she later woke up with him having sex with her on the couch.

Banks’s attorney says all the sex was consensual, and just a matter of “he said, she said.”

Banks is looking at 40 years behind bars where he can’t go online to practice his web of deceit.
