NEW YORK – A Chinese billionaire hosts an extravagant lunch for New York’s homeless.

He has 250 people and serves tuna, beef and the promise, as advertised, that everyone will leave with cash!

It seemed by all accounts to be a lovely event. Until it wasn’t.

As it turns out, officials with New York City’s Rescue Mission were concerned about the number of addicts in shelter houses. So they convinced Chen Guangbiao to hand them a check for $90,000 instead of handing out the dough to each attendee. That didn’t sit well. When word spread, the event’s tone changed. People yelled.

“That’s wrong and you know it’s wrong,” shouted one man.

Guangbiao had said his goal was to encourage charity among China’s wealthy. Unfortunately this probably left a bad taste.
