Forty-year old mother is newest Saints cheerleader
NEW ORLEANS, LA – One of these things is not like the others. One of these things doesn’t usually belong. If you’re under 40, then you’re probably familiar with the Sesame Street song about things being different.
But, if you’re over 40, you could be a member of Saintsations, the New Orleans Saints cheerleading team.
Kriste Lewis, at 40, is one of the new members of the squad. Lewis has danced since she was 3-years old. She was a cheerleader in high school, and she’s a dance and fitness instructor when she’s not a Saintsation.
Trying out to be a Saints cheerleader was on her bucket list because 14 years ago, she found out she had polycystic kidney disease. “Eventually, my kidneys will shut down. I will lose function in both kidneys. And I will be in need of dialysis, and eventually a transplant.”
But for now, Lewis is the latest sensation with the Saintsations, and loving every minute of it.
She’s also showing all of us that age and ailments are not always barriers to happiness and success.
