EMS workers suspended after man dies from chokehold

STATEN ISLAND, NY – It’s a story that has sparked outrage nationwide.

Eric Garner of Staten Island, New York died after an NYPD cop put him in a choke-hold. Officers were trying to arrest Garner for allegedly selling loose cigarettes.

All of it was captured on cell phone video.

Even as the 43-year-old asthmatic told officers he couldn’t breathe, they held him down on the ground using the choke-hold which is against NYPD policy. Now, new video has surfaced showing the officers and four EMS workers failing to administer CPR or do anything to help Garner.

As a result, the four EMS workers have been suspended without pay.
