Play not the only thing heating up at Texans training camp
HOUSTON, TX – Play is heating up on day two of Houston Texans training camp, but the action on the field is not the only thing bringing the heat.
Texans tackle Duane Brown says, “Being in Houston it is part of the deal, but it only makes it tougher. Being out here with everybody, everybody is grinding here together. It really brings us together and builds that chemistry and that bond. It`s not easy.”
Temperatures during outdoor practice have been hovering around the century mark.
Texans head coach Bill O’Brien says, “I mean it’s Texas. I mean it’s hot. Whatever . These guys are doing fine. We’re not expecting an Alaska cold front to come whipping through here. We’re out there and we’re going/ We’re just practicing. We go out there every day with the mission of getting better and we don’t worry about things we can’t control.”
One of the things that can be controlled is how players can mentor the younger players.
Texans defensive back A.J. Bouye says, “I’m trying to act more like a pro instead of a rookie. I’ve been hanging out with J Joe (Johnathan Joseph) DJ Swearinger and I’ve just been watching them and learning from them. Talk to JJ (Joseph) about anything on and off the field about what should I do more, so he’s been really helping me out a lot and hopefully, on day, I can be like him.”
Texans rookie running back Alfred Blue adds, “This is all new to me so I take bits and pieces from each veteran. For example the cold tub. Right now I’m about to get in the cold tub and try to get my body back right.”
The heat is going to get even worse when players will have to wear shoulder pads on Monday July 28.
