CaptureHOUSTON, TX -The incident happened in north Houston along the 11900 block of Airline after police officers were called just after 2:30 p.m. about a suspicious person with a weapon.

According to HPD spokesperson John Cannon, “The suspect started struggling with the officer and they fell down to the ground. At that time, our female officer went over to try to assist, she hears a pop. That’s when our other officer had been shot in his vest. At that time she sees the suspect has both of his hands on his gun and that’s when Officer Calhoun discharges more than one time and strikes the suspect.”

The wounded officer is in good condition at the Texas Medical Center.
