HOUSTON, TX - We know what one and two are, but what’s third most spoken language around these parts?

Slate.com made a map of the most commonly spoken languages in the United States other than English and Spanish. Everything from French in Maine, to Tagalog (a language spoken in the Philippines) in California. Down here in Texas, it’s Vietnamese.

Following the end of the Vietnam war, the Vietnamese population in Houston jumped from fewer than 100 in 1975, to over 80,000 in the 2010 census.

Tonight the Vietnamese Culture and Science Association gathered to appreciate volunteer work over the summer, and the push for next month’s “Walk for Wellness.”

Another strong, proud community here in the Bayou City that’s proud to call Houston home.
