HOUSTON, TX - The ALS  Ice Bucket Challenge has gotten a very warm response. Folks all over the country are taking the icy baths, and the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association in return is raking in the cold hard cash.

"As of this morning it`s been $15.6 million that has come in, which is incredible.  Last year at this time it had only been $1.8 million" says Paulette Bennett of the ALS Association Texas Chapter

From the average Joe, to the extreme and those who are better known like Bill Gates, the Texans Cheerleaders and our own Mayor, Annise Parker. "I`m taking the opportunity to call out some folks who need to support  ALS research."

It started out for fun,  but has turned into an ice storm of donations.

As you`ve all seen all the challenges that have been made to all the prominent people, and of course they have donated and it`s just been a fun thing.  We have prayed for an awareness." said Bennett

No doubt this isn`t just a drop in the ice bucket.
