I come to you with this shocking and breaking news….Hello Kitty, is not a cat! Wait what?! Stop this madness right meow!
University of Hawaii anthropologist Christine R. Yano shocked the world when she dropped the bombshell. Yano says she received the news from Sanrio while preparing for an upcoming exhibit that celebrates the character’s 40th anniversary at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles.
"She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat. She's never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature."
What else don’t we know about Hello Kitty, if that’s even your real name!
Here are some facts Yano revealed…
- Hello Kitty is British, not Japanese
- Lives outside of London
- Her birthday is Nov. 1
- She has parents and a twin sister, Mimmy
- Has her own pet cat named “Charmy Kitty”
I just can’t believe this. I’m sorry but what about the whiskers? Does she just need a good wax? I feel so betrayed. I mean is Snoopy really a dog? (Rest assured he is. He confirmed it on Twitter). At least Peanuts has some sense and isn’t nuts!
I don’t know if I’ll get over this. She’ll always be a cat in my eyes. I don’t care what people say.
At least I can confirm that the Chupacabra is real. I’m pretty sure he tried to pick me up in a bar last weekend.
I could use that drink after this news. Hello Kitty, not a cat. No way!
And that’s today’s helping of The Online Dish with Maggie.
