It’s the age old question that we ask ourselves every year; can you wear white after Labor Day? I decided go to my most reliable source, Fashion and Beauty editor at the Houston Chronicle, Joy Sewing.

Sewing has a firm answer; “I’m going to say this. I’ve been covering fashion for 10 years at the Chronicle. Yes, yes, and yes!”

“What the problem is that people run into are the fabrics. Linen and summer fabrics need to be left for summer.”

Now as we look at all of this white in our closet Sewing has some tips on how to make that transition into fall.

“You can always wear a crisp white blouse. Again pair it with the earth tones or the jewel tones that we’re seeing for the fall.”

“Also, take a pair of your skinny white jeans and pair with a black turtle neck and boot. That’s very Audrey Hepburn.”

So when it comes to White after Labor Day, Sewing has some words that we should live by:

“I don’t know what it is about that rule that people hang onto, but we need to let it go and embrace fashion. And one thing that’s so beautiful about fashion is there are so many ways to put together a look. And there are no rules.”

Well there ya have it folks. Can you wear white after Labor Day? Final answer…YES!
