WE tv Network is thinking outside the box, or should I say inside the box when it comes to a new reality show. It’s called Sex Box. I wonder what goes on in there. Well the title pretty much says it all. Based on a British series, couples go into a soundproof box without cameras. They have sex. Then, they have a frank and honest discussion about what just happened with a group of therapists and sex experts — in front of the studio audience.

The convo with the panel, post-sex will apparently be very productive. The couples will talk about what went down inside the box and the issues with their relationship. Because timing is everything and this is the right time.

“Scientists and researchers cite that people are more trusting and open in the moments immediately after sex due to the body’s natural release of oxytocin, also known as the ‘cuddle hormone,’ the network said in the release. “As a result, post coital couples therapy is more powerful and effective.”

Well alrighty then. According to WE tv president, Marc Juris:

“Our featured couples will get a once-in-a-lifetime experience, while our viewers will get the kind of bold, break-through-the-clutter programming they increasingly associate with WE tv.”

Just to clarify WE tv’s programming he’s talking about would be “Bridezillas”, “Braxton Family Values,” Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?,” “Kendra On Top” and “L.A. Hair.”

This show is all kinds of hot mess. First of all how do they actually know they’re having sex? I mean some of us can fake it pretty well. Are there cameras in there? Then could you imagine how awkward it would be to be a member of the studio audience. It’s like back in college when you’re waiting for your roommate to finish having sex. I mean will a producer tell them to “wrap” things up?

I am very open to talking about sex in the privacy of my own box at home. If you’re willing to have sex in a box, on live TV, you have bigger problems.

I think this “Sex Box” show will last as long as the foreplay.

And that’s today’s helping of The Online Dish with Maggie.
