HOUSTON, TX - Aerial Yoga in Houston's first ward arts district is offering a different way for people to relax and loosen those achy muscles.
"Aerial Yoga Houston`s is Houston`s only aerial yoga studio. We offer basics classes seven days a week. In our basics class, every class will have the strength and stretch fly format. So, aerial yoga practice is intended to strengthen the core and the back primarily and then to stretch and lengthen muscles."
"I'm a relatively new participant. I`m a personal trainer and when Nicole brought this to my attention, she explained the great benefits that it provides primarily the decompression of the spine, which is the most benefit that I have recognized."
"Here`s our flying series. Jodi`s going to demonstrate the straddleback which is kind of our first basic inversion so she`s hanging from her sacrum and she`s got a little tuck of the tailbone and she`s contracting the belly to help with decompression in the spine and just letting the head hang naturally."
"For those of you who are joining aerial yoga for the very first time, these are our silks. they are actually a tricot blend of fabric, nylon blend and underneath the silk is what we call the plumline and this is where we get our center of gravity. All of our poses start there."
"I`m a yoga, palates, and ballet instructor. i just turned fifty seven years old. i`ve been doing this all of my life, but i never imagined that yoga could be so different and this is the most liberating experience."
"You can breathe, you can think. you feel better. you feel like you're flying even when you're not in the helmic."
"Everybody has fun, we help each other, it's very open, very relaxed, we're not competitive. it's a great environment."
