HOUSTON, Tx. - Yoga-mania runs rampant in Houston Independent School District, and these kids are loving it.

One student says, "It's fun because you get to stretch and do things you like to do."

The new twisty turny up dog curriculum’s being offered at 12 HISD elementary schools. It’s all part of a health and wellness program designed to battle childhood obesity, minimize stress, lower bullying, and raise grades. All from standing strong as a warrior.

Another student says, "It`s where you exercise to make you skinnier and lose weight."

HISD superintendent Terry Grier says, "In three years we want to see it in every elementary school in our district. Once kids start doing this in elementary school those student and their parents are going to demand it in our secondary schools."

Now get up and stretch kiddos. Be mindful of your breathing and positively position your way to pure Zen. Since Houston is listed as one of America’s fattest cities…could it really hurt?
