BANGALORE, India -– India’s homemade spacecraft has arrived in Mars’ orbit.

This makes India the first nation to successfully make the trek in one try.

The “Mangalyaan,” or “Mars-craft” in Hindi, was launched last November.  About an hour after the vessel reached orbit, India's space agency started receiving photographic data of the planet’s terrain.
