Heavy gym days are heavy booze days

HOUSTON, Tx. -- What do barbells and bars have in common?

New research shows your gym days are also your booze days. That’s according to the National Institute on Aging. The Institute followed 150 people ages 18-89 for three weeks, three times a year and tracked their day-to-day behavior. They found more bicep curls led to more beer curls. Thursdays through Sundays, people exercised more than usual and drank more than usual, specifically beer.

The results were surprising to the “brainiacs” behind the experiment because they think it’s unusual for healthy behavior to lead to unhealthy behavior.

Scientists don’t know why there’s a link but people we talked to had a few guesses.

"More people are out. They're more people to meet, socialize and drink with" says Jessie Washington.

Loren Fouroux believes people fool themselves by saying. "I've worked it off so I'm rewarding myself with more alcohol."

Whatever the reason, you might want to pace yourself on the run from your health club to your Heineken.
