HOUSTON, Tx. - Life can be pretty “ruff” when you’re only three weeks old, separated from your mother and all alone.

“This is Parker and his ruff life began- he was just found as a teeny tiny little puppy, smaller than this wandering around as a stray” says the Houston SPCA's Meera Nandlal.

When the SPCA rescued the little Chihuahua-mix, he weighed about one pound. His foster mom is Mattie Robinson who’s also a cruelty investigator for the SPCA. To keep him alive, Robinson loved, cared for and bottle fed the precious pup every few hours, day and night.

In addition to his foster mom, Parker also has a foster brother. His name is Chase and yes he’s a kitten but the two go together like “peas and carrots.”

“He’s a puppy so he’s learning, he’s curious. He’s definitely very friendly. He’s teething. We’re hoping that our human hands can replace his mother until he’s ready to find his forever family” explains Nandlal.

After six weeks of TLC, Parker is healthy, happy and ready for his “furr- ever” home. “He’s good with cats and good with other dogs, he’s gotten really active. He’s been very, very active, he loves to play. He loves to kind of bark and be goofy and play with toys” says foster mom Robinson.

Parker wants a “furr-ever family” who’s an active family but will also snuggle with him.

Think you could own a dog that`s had a "ruff life?"
