SAN DIEGO, Ca. -- Talk about a close shave! A Southern California man is lucky to be alive, after the barber shaving his neck allegedly slashed him with a straight razor on purpose! Sounds like a scene right out of "Sweeney Todd," but San Diego cops claim 22-year-old Daniel Flores deliberately left the throat of 33-year-old Timothy Paul Vaughn with multiple gashes. No one knows why.

The incident happened at Vic's Barber Shop, a place known by locals as a "cut above the rest" when it comes to straight razor shaves. A skill men hope, left firmly in the hands of a barber while their neck is on the line.

The alleged attack happened in the middle of the afternoon. Witnesses saw Flores slash the victim's neck several times and then walked out of the barber shop. When sheriff's arrived on scene they found Vaughn badly bleeding on the floor. He was rushed to the hospital, listed in critical condition but is expected to recover from his wounds.

Flores was found a short time later at a relatives home, close by the barbershop. Flores is charged with attempted murder but investigators have not determined a motive. Maybe the barber was just on edge.
