HOUSTON, Tx. -- The National Bar Association called for a day of action in Houston, and held a “Know Your Rights, Because it Could Save Your Life Town Hall” meeting at Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
The idea is that the 4th Amendment to the Constitution gives you certain rights when being approached by authorities, and knowing these rights could not only save you a lot of hassle, but maybe even your life.
Pamela Meanes, President of National Bar Association, says, "They have a right to be silent, they have a right to not be frisked, they have the right to not give over to officers anything but their name."
But hopefully meetings like these will make the few bad apples recognize that the public isn’t taking this sitting down.
