SUGAR LAND, Texas - Folks living near the Vietnamese Buddhist Center and Temple in Sugar Land were in for a rude awakening Thursday morning.

"Residents that live on the premises heard a burglar alarm," said Douglas Harrison with the Houston Fire Department.

But it wasn't a thief in the night.

"They came outside and noticed that the back of the temple had collapsed. As they walked around the building, about 10 minutes later, the front side collapsed," Harrison explained.

Luckily, it was only a mess the residents had to deal with. No one was inside during the collapse, therefore, no one was hurt.

The Houston Fire Department is investigating the cause of the collapse.
