DEIR EZZOR, SYRIA – While American kids are watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates fight Captain Hook, or Frozen princesses being cute and making snowmen, Syrian children sit in the dark, watching films that do not include cute animation kids.

It is movie night in Islamic state, and the main feature is an ISIS propaganda production.

An activist secretly took video at the start of an Islamic State execution video, something we wouldn’t show adults without some kind of warning or disclaimer. But in Islamic State, children watch as captured Syrian soldiers run down the road in their underwear to their execution.

Along with indoctrination comes study and pageantry, complete with a graduation ceremony where they commencement regalia is the battle garb of jihadists ready to kill for their twisted beliefs.

After more than a thousand years of sectarian wars, jihadist adults still provide their violent version of childhood’s end.
