HOUSTON, Texas – Two country music artists decided it was time to face the music about their sexuality.

Billy Gilman and Ty Herndon both announced they’re gay, coming out on the same day.  Billy kept things straight forward with his fans by coming out on social media.

In a YouTube video, Gilman says, “it’s difficult for me for me to make this video, not because I’m ashamed of being a gay male artist, or a gay artist, or a gay person.,”

Billy says he knows he’s in an genre of music that’s ashamed of him being gay.

In an interview with ‘People Magazine,’ Ty says, “my family has seen me struggle with being gay my whole career.”

When he was in his 20s, he began coming out to them.  Ty took a different approach, even dropping hints in one of his music videos.

He thought he couldn’t be gay and in country music at the same time, but with all the support the guys are getting, things are looking up.

For these two singers, they’re hoping things continue on a good note.
