HOUSTON, Texas -- Protests in the growing movement against police brutality are on tap in dozens of communities across the nation and Houston was no different where a protest took place at Texas Southern University.

The protests are in response to the decision Wednesday by a New York grand jury not to charge police Officer Daniel Pantaleo in Garner’s death after his arrest, which was captured on cell-phone video. This after the unrest that spilled out after a grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri did not indict officer Darren Wilson in the death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown.

One Houston resident who was protesting says they need to be heard, "Because black people do matter. Right now, I'm choked up. I'm just in tears over the whole situation. It's just back to back to back. It's non-stop, so it's just tough on black people being that they are winnnig their cases, they'll continuosly do what they're doing. So, as black people we need to continue the fight."
