HOUSTON, Texas – The first College Football Playoff will not feature a team from Texas, despite the best efforts of Baylor and TCU.

The Big XII co-champions missed out on the playoff, as the selection committee picked Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State as the four teams.

“I’d certainly like to have been in it,” Baylor coach Art Briles said. “Didn’t work out that way so what am I going to do, moan and whine?”

Baylor will play in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl against Michigan State, while TCU heads to Atlanta for the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl against Mississippi.

Here in Houston, Longhorn fans will get to see Texas face off against Arkansas in the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl.

“It’s an old Southwest Conference Rivalry between Arkansas so I think they’ll see that,” college football fan Steven Farnsworth said. “Texas has been playing good football in the latter half of their season, so I think they’ll do well.”

The Texas Bowl takes place at NRG Stadium on December 29 at 8 PM.
