CROSBY, Texas -- It's all the excitement of a snow day, just take away the snow and that morning-of elation. Then you have what Crosby Independent School District kids are getting this Friday.
The high school's football team is playing in the state semifinals in Austin, so the district is closing up shop. Every class, every grade and every school is out. The day will be made-up at the end of the year.
A statement from Superintendent Keith Moore says his call has to do with the Cougars getting "tremendous" community support and wanting to give fans enough time to safely get to Austin. He says the district "does understand that this places a burden on some of our families, especially those with young children…” But he thinks this is a win-win.
