HOUSTON, Texas — Jose Reyes was convicted of capital murder for the gruesome killing of Corriann Cervantes, 15, in February.

She was found with an upside down cross carved into her stomach.

Authorities say Cervantes was beaten with a porcelain toilet tank lid and was stabbed more than 60 times with a screwdriver.

Prosecutors say teens kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and killed Cervantes because they wanted to sell their souls to the devil.

Reyes’ conviction comes with an automatic life sentence.
