HOUSTON, Texas – The Texans still have plenty to play for going into Week 17 of the NFL season.  While they’d need a series of events to happen, making the playoffs is still a possibility for Houston.

“Especially coming from last year, losing 14 straight and knowing you’re out of it – just taking care of our business one game at a time and knowing that you may get it now is good,” Texans safety D.J. Swearinger said.

Here’s the path to the playoffs for the Texans, who currently have an 8-7 record:

  • The Texans must beat the Jacksonville Jaguars at NRG Stadium on Sunday
  • San Diego would need to lose against Kansas City, leaving both the Chargers and Chiefs with 9-7 records
  • Baltimore would, also. need to lose at home against Cleveland

If all three of those things occur, the Texans would clinch a wild-card spot by virtue of a tie-breaker.  They would have the best record in AFC play among the 9-7 teams.
