SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Five people died and 10 were injured after the 3-alarm fire raged through the Wedgwood Senior Living Apartments in Castle Hills, a suburb of San Antonio.

"After looking at the floors, it's amazing that we did not have more loss of life. The third floor hallway is absolutely gutted. The doors are charred," said Chief Charles Hood of the San Antonio Fire Department.

It happened early Sunday morning.

Officials say about 150 firefighters from San Antonio and six other fire departments made their way to the scene and started rushing residents out of the building.

At least 75 residents were carried out and taken to a nearby high school for shelter.

Still no word yet on what caused the blaze, but officials continue to investigate.
