LOS ANGELES, CA - After finishing up her lead role in the play 'Speed-the-Plow' in London, Lindsay Lohan took a little vacation in French Polynesia.

Unfortunately, on her tropical getaway  Lohan contracted Chikungunya, a virus transmitted by mosquitoes. The Chikungunya virus causes severe joint pain and fever that can last for weeks.

The worst part about it is that there's no cure or vaccine. Most patients recover, but sometimes joint pain can go on for months or even years.

Despite her illness, Lohan has managed to keep a pretty positive attitude. She posted a picture on Instagram with a caption that read "I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation."

She's also been tweeting about it and advised her followers to use bug spray.
