The two hot-button issues of abortion and same-sex marriage will be front and center at the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, this week.

Mark Phariss and Victor Holmes are one of the two Texas couples whose case helped overturn the state’s ban on same-sex marriage. That victory was appealed, but Pharris is pretty optimistic that the Fifth Circuit will come down on his side and believes he has the same right to marry as any American.

On the topic of abortion where abortion clinics across the state are fighting to keep their doors open. The  court will hear arguments Wednesday on why abortion clinics should or shouldn’t have to meet hospital-level operating standards.
